Donald Trump reacts to Ilhan Omar attack: ‘Probably had herself sprayed’
President Donald Trump told a reporter that Ilhan Omar “probably had herself sprayed” after a man charged at the Democratic U.S. Representative during a town hall meeting in Minneapolis and appeared to squirt a liquid, according to ABC News.
Omar was hosting the event on Tuesday when a man rushed towards the stage and used a syringe to spray an unknown substance towards her before being tackled to the ground and restrained.
A suspect was arrested and booked on a third-degree assault charge. Police identified him as 55-year-old Anthony Kazmierczak, The Associated Press reported.
ABC News reported that Senior Political Correspondent Rachel Scott had spoken to the president by phone on Tuesday evening, and Trump said he hadn’t seen a video of the incident.
“I don’t think about her. I think she’s a fraud,” he was reported as saying. “She probably had herself sprayed, knowing her.”
This is a developing story and will be updated.
