‘Tell Me Lies’ star Spencer House reveals his favorite Season 3 wig of Wrigley’s: “The one where I looked like the GEICO caveman”
The Tell Me Lies series finale left fans stunned, but Wrigley’s (Spencer House) not-so-luscious locks may have been the biggest surprise.
House sat down with Entertainment Tonight following Tuesday’s (Feb. 17) finale, and was asked about “Wrigley’s hair journey” in the third and final season of the hit drama, particularly what his “favorite” wig to wear was.
“The one where I looked like the GEICO caveman,” he teased, referring to Wrigley’s ‘do in 2015. “That was my inspiration.”
Both House and his co-star Cat Missal, who joined him in the interview, were wearing wigs in the series finale, and recalled the experience of “staring at each other” in their wigs as being “the funniest thing.”
“We had to lock eyes on the dance floor,” House explained. “I loved it because Wrigley got to hide the whole time. He got to hide behind humor and hair.”
The moment in question takes place during Bree (Missal) and Evan’s (Branden Cook) wedding, after Stephen (Jackson White) drops the bombshell that Bree and Wrigley has been having a months-long affair. While Evan is screaming at Wrigley, Bree and Wrigley share a look of longing. As for whether fans can believe that Bree and Wrigley end up together, Tell Me Lies creator Meaghan Oppenheimer confirmed as much while speaking with DECIDER.
“Oh yeah! We were very specific about filming that moment in the finale,” she shared. “I even wrote in the script, ‘You get the sense that despite all this carnage, these two are going to find a way to work it out.’ I wrote that in the scene description.”
House understood the intent behind the scene, telling DECIDER, “I don’t think they would have put that final shot of them locking eyes and smiling if if it wasn’t to tell the audience that this is the direction that it’s going
Missal was also supportive of Bree and Wrigley’s relationship post-finale.
“I don’t like to futurize anything for them in case, but yeah. I love them together,” Missal told DECIDER. “I think that there’s a deep truth in their relationship that’s a rare thing. So I hope the best for them both.
For those wondering about House’s hair, he clarified in his Entertainment Tonight that his “hair was real in the first two seasons,” though apparently some fans begged to differ.
“I get a lot of people talking about how that’s a wig,” he quipped. “I said, ‘You’re wrong.’”
All three seasons of Tell Me Lies are streaming on Hulu.
