And designer Christian Cowan shared insight into what inspired the head-turning ensemble, which, just like most hairstyles, was styled with hairspray, texturizing spray and more.

“With the TRESemmé A-List Hair Couture Dress, I wanted to put hair front and center,” the designer explained in a March 15 press release. “The hair is not the finishing touch of this look–it is the look.”

The gown, which took a team of 16 people and 152 hours to complete, was also a love letter to the work that goes on behind the scenes ahead of the award shows, with the help of the hair company.
