‘Bridgerton’ Star Claudia Jessie Lands Role As Suspicious Detective Investigating Glenn Close’s Maud In Channel 4’s ‘Up To No Good’
EXCLUSIVE: Splashy Channel 4 drama Up to No Good starring Glenn Close has rounded out cast with Bridgerton star Claudia Jessie, Penelope Wilton and Meera Syal.
The show, which was previously called Maud and has rolled cameras in London, is based on the short story collections by Swedish writer Helene Tursten and follows Maud Oldcastle, an old killer with a tortured past. Determined to break from a lifetime spent caring for her sister, Maud sets out to claim a long-overdue second act, but a suspicious detective and an unrelenting world built for youth may soon discover just how far she’ll go to protect her freedom.
Jessie, who plays Eloise Bridgerton in the smash Netflix period drama, is Hannah, the suspicious detective investigating a death in Maud’s building. Syal is Margaret and Wilton is Charlotte. The show has also cast Gloria Obianyo (Andor), Anita Dobson (Doctor Who) and Ben Crompton (Game of Thrones). Lee Haven Jones (A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story) has been revealed today as director, and Nina Raine and Moses Raine (Donkey Heart) are penning.
Up to No Good comes from Wolf Hall maker Playground and is being shopped by Sony Pictures Television.

The show was commissioned for Channel 4 by Gwawr Lloyd, Acting Head of Drama, and Rebecca Holdsworth. Executive producers are Scott Huff and Colin Callender for Playground, alongside Close, Haven Jones, Nina Raine and Moses Raine. The series producer is Morenike Williams (Killing Eve).
Close is the latest big name to appear in a Channel 4 drama, following in the recent footsteps of the likes of Gillian Anderson, Paapa Essiedu and Keeley Hawes.
