Catherine Zeta-Jones To Star in Tate Taylor’s Twisted Marriage Counselor Thriller ‘Cupid’; Upgrade & CAA Media Finance Launching At EFM

Catherine Zeta-Jones is set to star in the psychological thriller Cupid as an unorthodox marriage counselor whose methods push a fractured relationship into increasingly dangerous territory. 

The film will be directed by Tate Taylor (Ma, The Girl on the Train, The Help) from a screenplay by the Van Dyke brothers (Don’t Worry Darling). 

Filming is being lined up for late summer-early fall 2026 in Natchez Mississippi. John Norris and Taylor will be producing alongside Ryan Donnell Smith.  

Taylor said of the project: “You may never want to seek counselling again.  Or perhaps you will, assuming you can handle it. I’m thrilled to take this journey with Catherine. There is no better artist to bring this unique thriller to life.”

Cupid follows a couple who try to repair their frayed marriage over the course of a weekend at the home of seemingly helpful but unorthodox marriage counselor (Zeta-Jones). What starts out as a hopeful endeavor quickly turns dark as her methods become crueler and more dangerous. 

Upgrade will be launching international sales at EFM. CAA Media Finance, which arranged financing for the film, is handling U.S. distribution rights.

Zeta-Jones is represented by UTA; Taylor by CAA and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora & Clark; and the Van Dykes by WME
