Gypsy Rose Blanchard Apologizes for Using Racial Slurs in Leaked Prison Calls

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is speaking out about a recent controversy.

After audio clips of her using racial slurs in prison phone calls resurfaced online, the Life After Lock Up star issued a lengthy apology for using the offensive language, including the “cruel” comments she made about her sister Mia Blanchard’s interracial relationship with her fiancé Andre Pittman.

“I want to directly address some of the old prison phone calls that have recently been shared online,” Gypsy shared in a statement posted on her since-deleted TikTok account Aug. 21, per TMZ. “In those conversations, I used racist language and made cruel, disrespectful comments, including about people I love, my sister Mia and her fiancé André.”

“What I said was wrong,” she continued. “The words were racist and I take full responsibility for saying them. There is no excuse for that language or the pain it’s caused.”

In the snippets of the resurfaced phone calls, which recently began circulating on social media, Gypsy—who served seven years in prison for assisting her ex-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn in the 2015 murder of her mother Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard—allegedly could be heard using racist language, including multiple uses of the N-word, in conversations with her now ex-husband Ryan Anderson as well as family members.
